Committees
1. The Anniversary and Awards Committeeshall coordinate and present an annual Anniversary service, to include the Astorian of the Year and Civic Awards
2. The Auditing Committee shall be responsible for the auditing of the financial records of the Club during the month of August. The Committee shall make a report to the Club at the December meeting. The committee shall be granted the necessary funds to cover the cost of the audit.
3. The Benevolent Committee shall keep watch over the welfare of the members and make recommendations of relief to the Club. This committee shall submit vouchers, for exempt member’s dues, to the treasurer, in the month of December, for the following year.
4. The Burial Committee shall arrange a memorial and co-ordinate Clubrepresentation and assistance at the death of a member. The chairman shall submit a voucher, to the treasurer, for benevolent benefits for the deceased regular members. Additionally, he shall notify the news media to inform the membership of the time and place of the funeral.
5. By-laws Committee shall be appointed for a term of one year. The by-laws committee shall be cognizant of needed changes, meet periodically and submit an annual report in October, or more frequently, if deemed necessary.
6. The Civic Committeeshall keep the members of the Club informed of their responsibility to the community and co-operate with other organizations in promoting civic projects affecting the total community.
7. The Education Committee shall coordinate the annual Scholarship awards, and monetary incentive awards for high school graduates, who are children of Club members.
8. The Entertainment Committeeshall originate and recommend to the Club from time to time any program or entertainment for the good of the Club.
9. The Outside Charitable Appeals and Donations Committee shall investigate all outside appeals for donations and report them to the Club, with recommendations.
10. The Membership Committee shall examine all applications for membership and verify them for correctness of information. They shall recommend candidates for membership, to the Club, after the committee has approved the candidates. This committee shall assemble a Membership Packet to be given to each new member. They shall also attempt to reinstate suspended members and recruit new members.
11. The Newsletter Committeeshall be responsible for the newsletter.
12. Nominating Committee shall submit a report containing a slate of officers at the September meeting. Copies of this report shall be submitted to the President and to the Secretary.
13. The Parental Assistance Leadership Service Committee is an outreach committee of the Club. It shall be the link between the Club, parents, and children of the Community. Additionally, this committee shall act as a role model and motivational builder of self-esteem.
14. The Program Committee shall have charge of all literary programs, forums and public meetings.
15. The Publicity Committeeshall co-ordinate all news releases to the news media and to the Club newsletter. Additionally, this committee shall publicize Club events.
16. The Memorial and Sick Committee shall be composed of at least four benefited members, including the chairman. The Chairman shall supervise visitation of all sick members. The committee shall also monitor the donation to sick members after a consecutive two-night stay in the hospital. The committee shall also coordinate a service to memorialize deceased members. The Chairman shall present a voucher, for payment to a sick member, to the treasurer, and monitor the delivery of the payment.
17. The Special Projects Committeeshall be the President’s discretionary committee for special projects that are not assigned to other committees. This committee shall prepare and present a program for the Bill “Bo Jangles” Robinson Memorial program, which shall be held annually in June.
18. The Ways and Means Committeeshall promote projects to increase the funds of the treasury of the Club. The projects are to be in keeping with the dignity of the Club.
